Exhibit Planning and Research Volunteer/Intern

Imagine Children's Museum is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic volunteer/intern to assist with planning and research for possible modifications of current exhibits and creation of new exhibits.

Description
The ideal volunteer/intern will possess the following qualities:

  • Ability to think creatively
  • Enjoy fact-finding
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience conducting in-depth research
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to present themselves in a professional manner
  • Be comfortable making phone calls to further research
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality throughout all aspects of responsibilities

Time
Position requires a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week.

Administrative Internship

Description
The intern will assist the Executive Director and will gain practical experience in the various functions of Museum operations.

Time
The position is available for at least 5 hours per week with a minimum 3-month commitment. Hours will be during weekdays, with the possibility of some evenings or weekends. This position is available Spring and Summer. The position is unpaid, but Imagine Children's Museum is willing to complete any necessary paperwork to receive educational credit.

Art Internship
Description
The intern will work with the public by facilitating the use of the Museum's Art Studio, creating a "guest ready" atmosphere in the Art Studio, assisting in the preparation of art projects, facilitating art activities, and supporting guest artists.

Job Tasks

  • Interact with visitors (children and adults) to encourage the exploration of art concepts and use of various artistic media
  • Maintain a "guest ready" atmosphere in the Art Studio
  • Answer visitor questions
  • Assist in preparing scheduled art projects, including "Make and Take" and special event activities
  • Support the needs of guest artists who visit the Museum

  • Ability to bend, lift objects, and stand for extended lengths of time

Time

Exhibits/Facility Intern

Looking to add to your portfolio? We have an opportunity for you! Appropriate for students interested in fine arts, carpentry, set/theater design, props, exhibits design, interior design, etc. Very hands-on.

Description
The intern will assist in the upkeep of the Museum. Work to include: painting walls, touching up murals, repairing exhibits and keeping them in working order, some fabrication work, light carpentry, minor electrical work, sewing, craft-oriented repairs, etc. Tasks are not limited to these, nor will you be required to possess all these skills. Great for a jack/jill-of-all-trades.

**Some training available.

Time
This position is part-time during the evening, Tuesday through Friday (5:00 – 8:00 p.m.) and/or Mondays (10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) Scheduling is flexible. This position is unpaid, but Imagine Children's Museum is willing to complete any necessary paperwork for you to receive educational credit.

Marketing and Special Event Planning Internship
 

Help develop, coordinate and implement special events at Imagine Children's Museum.  You will work closely with staff to create these special memory maker events including Vermi's Wormology, High Seas Pirates' Day, Tooth-Apolooza and the North Pole Party.

Summer Program Internship

We are looking for some fun individuals to develop programs for summer play.  Internship includes working with the public by facilitating play in the Museum and on the roof top exhibit area, leading children and families in games, music activities and special events bringing out the magic of childhood and making Imagine Children's Museum a fun filled place.
